The locals are in love with warmer days in our city and you will feel the same.
Ljubljana is lovely and full of surprises. Here are five top reasons why to visit Ljubljana in the spring:
One of the greatest architects of the 20th century Europe Jože Plečnik, created the timeless elegance of Ljubljana. The city centre is designed as a total work of art and unique urban planning inspired by the perfection of antiquity. Take a walk on his daily path. Walk down from B&B Hotel Ljubljana Park to the Ljubljanica River, visit the market, the Triple Bridge (Tromostovje), river banks, National and University Library (NUK) and Plečnik House, where a new vision of Ljubljana came alive.
The cultural icon of Slovenia dominates on the castle hill, offering a fantastic view of the city. Take one of the romantic forest trails leading to the castle. Throughout the year, an extraordinary culinary offer, exhibitions about Ljubljana and Slovenia and special experiences are available to get the feeling of the medieval story of the fortress.
Ljubljana was awarded the title of the European Green Capital 2016, also due to wide green areas. Tivoli Park is like the lungs of Ljubljana. It is not far away from the cult hill called Rožnik, where traditional Slovenian specialities await you, and, if you wish to feel at least a little bit the Slovenian character, this ascent is a must. Strolling on the Jakopič promenade up to International Centre of Graphic Arts (MGLC) is a nice green experience.
B&B Hotel Ljubljana Park is embraced by two hot spots of alternative and urban culture of Ljubljana. The first one is Metelkova mesto, an autonomous cultural zone with incredible graffiti and modern artistic interventions. Metelkova also hosts great small concerts and other events. If you walk down towards Ljubljanica, you cannot miss Trubarjeva Street with its multicultural pulse, small shops and restaurants.
If you like to relax by the river or feel the cafés atmosphere, head towards Ljubljanica. Its banks were rearranged by the architect of Ljubljana Jože Plečnik. The path by the river takes you up to Ljubljana Špica, where you can enjoy the ambiance of the green beach in summer with deckchairs and sunshades.
