This years week of mobility will start on 16th and end on 22nd of September. The slogan of this year's mobility week is Sharing gets you further. 71 of Slovenian municipalities will take part in project. Throughout Europe, there are 2.320 cities and municipalities included into the project. The main purpose of the Mobility week is to reduce your own transport costs and more importantly to reduce your carbon footprint. Sustainable development is crucial for future generations as the environment needs to be preserved for future generations also. During the mobility week consider transportation by public transport, bicycle, on foot or share a ride with someone traveling in the same direction. This year we marked a day of ecological debt – Earth overshoot, as early as 2nd of August, which means that we spent all of the natural resources that are available to us each year. The consequences of this are reflected in lack of water, soil erosion, loss of biodiversity and the accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The imprint of our country is mostly made of carbon dioxide emissions, followed by forests, agriculture and pasture and least fishing and building. That's why this week we need to focus on reducing the carbon dioxide emissions. If we manage to reduce our ecological debt for 4,5 days each year, by 2050 we will return to the level of stable consumption. During this week, various activities will be organized by municipalities to promote education and awareness on the importance of sustainable mobility for a better quality of living, health and the environment. Let this week be a turning point where we will implement changes to our everyday life, which are positive both for us and the environment. Together we are stronger, so let's use this strength for a positive impact on the environment.
