The local university adds a lively, youthful flair to the city (and ensures there’s plenty of nightlife and bars and clubs available) but there’s also plenty of historic buildings and sites to visit as well, if you’re looking for a more leisurely, quiet trip.

Ljubljana is very conveniently located as far as travel, with numerous highways and railways linked to the city, as well as an international airport located about 25 km north of the city. Within the city buses are the most common mode of transportation in addition to a new tram line built in 2006 that’s very popular with tourists and runs past many popular sightseeing stops. There are also numerous museums and art galleries in the city (including the Slovenian Museum of Natural History) and several large concerts and music events such as the Ljubljana Summer Festival.
